It has been a long time since I last uploaded pictures to me website... Please forgive me, the live in Spain do not let time for that type of stuff! I will try to remedy the situation this week.
A few days in the Basque country (Euskadi). A splendide region who, similarly to Catalonia, is fighting to get its independance from the ruling Spanish government. These two regions are the most economically and socially developed of Spain. Their native people are requesting the freedom of their homeland for various cultural, economic and historical reasons.
In a town named Astigarraga, there exist a cider resembling to the Asturian natural cider which some of you had the chance to taste.
For the one who do not know, La Rioja is a province south of the Basque country which gave its name to the wine produced under the Denominación de Origen of this region. The Rioja is the most known of the Spanish denominations and the easiest to find outside spain. However, it is important to realise that there exist a large array of wines in Spain, ranging from flowery white wines to very sugary dark red desert wines.
This photo illustrates well the arid climate of the region that give that special taste to the wine.
